A turbocharger is a turbine-driven induction device which helps to improve the efficiency of the internal engine combustion process and the power output of the vehicle. In today’s time, there are two ways to obtain more power from a car engine — one is to increase the capacity of the engine, and the second is to increase fuel/air mixture which is going into the cylinder. Turbochargers help to do the latter, and are becoming quite popular with car owners in recent times. It’s nothing but a pump which is driven by the exhaust gases that come out of the exhaust.

The main goal of a turbocharger is to enhance the engine efficiency by elevating the density of the intake gas. This allows greater power per engine cycle. Turbochargers earlier found usage in racing cars primarily. Race cars’ engines don’t have the facility to compromise between power and flexibility, as they need both. They need high power to operate at the speed range they usually spend most of their time being driven at. With a turbocharged engine, they can do this very conveniently. But, the use of turbochargers isn’t restricted to race cars. Nowadays, more and more car owners are installing turbochargers in their car for high speed and performance. So, if you own a Mazda CX7, you should install a Mazda CX7 turbo from Demon Pro Parts today. Step 1: Before you install a turbocharger, you should make sure to clean out the air cleaner and the ducting to the compressing interior. There shouldn’t be any foreign material as even small or soft objects could cause damage.

Step 2: Prevent dirt or debris to get into the turbocharger openings.

Step 3: Check all the bolts to detect any missing or loose bolts. All the turbocharger bolts should be tight. Also, make sure that the lock tabs are all bent up, and the turbine and the compressor housing are appropriately aligned.

Step 4: Remove the old gasket from the exhaust flange, inspect the flange for signs of erosion or flatness, and put in a new gasket.

Step 5: The next step is to inspect the oil drain and supply lines for signs of clogging, kinking, or other proof of deterioration etc.

Step 6: Now, using all the new gaskets and O-rings, if needed, install the turbocharger on the engine. Tighten the nuts and bolts on the turbocharger. You are advised to use a high temperature lubricant on these treads.

Step 7: Next, you need to fill the inlet oil hole with clean oil and to coat the bearings with oil; you need to spin the compressor multiple times. Connect the inlet to the oil supply line.

Step 8: Then, you need to inspect the level of lubricant in the engine crankcase. Priming the oil filter is necessary in case it was changed.

Step 9: Prior to starting the engine, you need to crank the engine with a fuel shut off for at least 10-15 seconds.

Step 10: And finally, you can start the engine and allow it to run at the same speed for 3-4 minutes before you accelerate. Also, check for oil leakages.

So, these were the steps that you need to follow, for the successful installation of a turbocharger. Turbochargers will enhance the performance of your engine and car by multiple folds and you will be glad that you installed it in the first place. So, ready to do some turbo work?
