As cliche as it may sound to many, fitness and exercising is very important. It not only benefits us physically but also mentally and emotionally. The benefits of aerobic exercise are many, and we shall discuss them here. Moreover, there are many ways one can incorporate aerobic exercise into their life! Therefore, tune in, keep reading and let’s explore the many benefits, types, steps, and examples of aerobic exercise!

Aerobic Exercise

For those unfamiliar with the term Aerobic Exercise, it simply means cardio workouts. Aerobics require a lot of oxygen intake throughout the rhythmic exercises and involve larger muscles over longer periods of time. For example, running, jogging, swimming or riding a bicycle are all considered a form of aerobic exercise. If you think about it, when you do any of these workouts, it requires the involvement of all of your bigger muscles and it’s pretty much a whole body workout. For any type of cardio, 20 minutes is the minimum you should strive for in order to get your metabolism going. Once you build good stamina, you can gradually begin to increase the time you spend on a treadmill or stationary bike.

Benefits of Aerobic Exercises

Different forms of cardio have always been recommended to maintain your fitness levels. One of the most obvious benefits of aerobic exercise is weight loss and weight management. As you involve large muscle groups throughout a certain period of time, you are burning calories and as a result, burning the fat as well. Consistency is where results occur faster. Therefore, it is definitely a lifestyle and not a temporary fix.

Other than getting in shape and reaching your goal weight, other benefits of aerobic exercise are crucial for one’s health. Recommended amounts of cardio reduce the risks of many conditions and diseases out there. As you strengthen your immune system and metabolism, you are lowering the chances of high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease and some types of cancer.

For anyone who is a veteran when it comes to cardio on a daily basis will tell you how much it benefits emotionally as well. Going to the gym and spending an average of 30 minutes solo with your music is a very relaxing experience. Not only do you get rid of negative energy, but you sweat it all out and feel a lot more accomplished afterward.

Which Machine to Use

When it comes to aerobic exercise, aerobic exercise at home or in a gym is up to you. You can rely on machines and you don’t have to. In the end, it is a personal preference. For example, if you have access to a gym, you can rely on a treadmill, stationary bicycle, elliptical or stepper. All are a great form of exercise! Meanwhile, if you prefer something else, you could go for a swim, jog outside or even try skipping a rope.

Overall, finding something that works for you is the most essential element of aerobic exercise. As we mentioned, consistency is important, therefore if you like what you do you are more likely to keep at it.
